Project Funding

The construction of a Habitat for Humanity home is funded by private and/or public sources and by fundraising events and mailings. The costs are kept down substantially by the use of volunteer labor and the in-kind contributions of services and materials by area businesses. On completion, the partner family purchases the home at cost from Habitat with a zero interest mortgage.

The Acton Habitat for Humanity project has been supported by the generous contributions of two major donors:
  • Steinberg-Lalli Foundation - provided $30,000 to match funds raised from private sources. Click here to learn more about the foundation.
  • Acton Community Preservation Committee - contributed $35,000 toward the project and its goal of providing affordable housing.
Pictured at right are Neely Steinberg of Steinberg-Lalli Foundation, project co-chair Heidi Schumacher, and Habitat NCM executive director Megan Foley.

We are also grateful for the support of AMD of Boxboro who contributed $7,500 and sent a work party to help with the build.

We would like to recognize Starbuck's for providing coffee and Roche Brothers, Stop & Shop, and Donelan's Supermarkets for providing ice and beverages for our volunteer work crews every week.

Our thanks go out to the following area businesses who donated their time, efforts, and resources to the fundraising efforts associated with our project:
